Westgate Regional Shopping Centre opened for trade on 25th September 1985 - 24 years ago. At the time, there was very little competition in the form of other shopping centres in the vicinity, and Westgate enjoyed dominance and growth in popularity as a complete retail destination.
The Centre has had to reinvent itself to keep up with the times and stave off fast-growing competition, in the last 2 decades. Its longevity has afforded it shopper loyalty and solidified its brand heritage; the Centre has been around for as long as some of its shoppers have been alive!
Westgate has undergone an expansion and several refurbishments, and is currently undergoing an internal revamp. Stretching over 1km, almost all of Westgate is located on a single level, with approximately 80% of the tenants being on the upper level and the remaining 20% on the lower level.
The Centre boasts an array of reputable, national retailers among its tenant mix and utilises a research-driven letting and marketing strategy to attract prime tenants and shoppers.
