As the freezing weather continues to impact on the lives of those without housing and heating , Westgate Shopping Centre in partnership with Edu-Care arranged a ‘blanket drive’ in honour of Mandela Day and 67 minutes of community service.

The Westgate Shopping Centre, Marketing Team, approached tenants to partake in this initiative and successfully managed to gather 1000 blankets. Westgate Shopping Centre’s,  GM, Nicolette Carelse, the Centre Management Team and Daleen from Edu-Care loaded  the vehicles and travelled to the Princess Crossing informal settlement, where they personally distributed the blankets. Starting at the local community soccer field, where blankets were handed to children then moving on to Ma Susan’s orphanage and throughout the informal settlement.

The GM thanked the Tenants, and everyone that showed compassion and joined in this endeavour.
